Emergency Cold Shelter Assistance

As winter weather continues to bring extreme cold and unpredictable conditions, residents in Mississauga–Malton are reminded that emergency shelter and outreach supports are available for individuals and families in need. No one should have to face the winter without access to warmth, safety, and basic necessities.

Peel Region and local community partners offer a range of services designed to provide immediate assistance, wellness checks, and pathways to longer-term support.

Region of Peel Street Helpline

The Region of Peel Street Helpline is available 24/7 for anyone concerned about someone experiencing homelessness or in need of emergency winter assistance.

The helpline provides:

  • Enhanced outreach during severe weather
  • Wellness checks
  • Hygiene products and food
  • Referrals to shelters and supportive services

Residents are encouraged to call if they see someone who may be at risk due to cold weather conditions.

Peel Region Shelter Services

For individuals and families requiring an immediate place to stay, Peel Region Shelter Services can help connect people with appropriate shelter options.

  • Youth
  • Families

  • Individuals fleeing violence or abuse

Malton Community Drop-In

The Malton Community Drop-In, located at 3540 Morning Star Drive, offers a welcoming and safe space for individuals seeking daytime support.

Services include:

  • Access to shelter resources
  • Showers and laundry facilities
  • Warm beverages and nutritious meals
  • A safe environment to rest and connect with services

The drop-in is open Monday to Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., until March 31, 2026.
