Message From Your MPP
Dear Friends and Neighbours,
The first Monday of August is recognized as a Civic Holiday. It offers a welcome pause in our busy lives, providing a chance to rest, reflect and recharge.
As a summer begins to wind down, this is a wonderful time to enjoy the best this season has to offer. Whether you’re camping beneath the stars, fishing by a quiet lake, picking blueberries to a local farm, or enjoying a picnic in the park, I hope you find time to connect with nature and one another. These simple moments are often the ones we cherish most, and I am always proud to see our community embracing the outdoors and making lasting memories together.
August is also recognized as Emancipation Month in Ontario, a meaningful time to honour the history, resilience, and enduring contributions of Black communities across our province. On August 1, 1834, the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833 came into effect, making a pivotal moment in the fight for justice and equality. This month, we remember the legacy, reflect on the progress made, and recommit ourselves to building a more inclusive Ontario where everyone is treated with fairness, respect, and dignity.
I am proud to share that in July, the province announced a $7.5 million investment in the Digital Main Street program. This initiative helps small businesses expand their digital presence, modernize operations, and grown in today’s economy. Small businesses make up approximately 84 percent of all businesses in Mississauga and are the backbone of Mississauga-Malton’s local economy. It is an honour to represent a community where hardworking entrepreneurs and local shop owners play such a vital role in shaping our neighbourhoods. Let’s continue to support them so they remain strong, sustainable, and future-ready.
One of my favourite events each year is our Remarkable Citizens Celebration, and this July marked the sixth time we came together to honour the incredible individuals who go above and beyond in service to others. It is truly inspiring to witness the selflessness, kindness, and leadership that live within our community. If you know someone making a difference, I invite you to nominate them to be a remarkable citizen for the year 2026/2027 to celebrate their contributions and thank them for all that they do.
As always, my team and I are here to support you. It is a privilege to serve such a vibrant and compassionate community. Please do not hesitate to reach out. We are just a phone call or visit away. Wishing you and your family a joyful, safe, and restful summer.
Warm regards,

Deepak Anand
MPP Mississauga-Malton
Thank you to everyone from Mississauga-Malton and surrounding communities for joining us at the Malton Canada Celebration at Westwood Square.
It was great to see so many people come together to mark Canada Day with food, music, culture, and community. Events like this remind us of the strength and diversity that define both our local neighbourhoods and our country as a whole.
Remarkable Citizen Awards
“There are three types of people in this world: those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who wonder what happened.”
In Mississauga-Malton, we are fortunate to be surrounded by individuals who make things happen—citizens who lead with purpose, serve with compassion, and inspire through action. To honour these outstanding contributions, MPP Deepak Anand launched the Remarkable Citizen Awards in 2019. Each year since, our office has proudly recognized residents whose commitment to community has made Mississauga-Malton a better place to live, work, and thrive. We’re delighted to introduce this year’s Remarkable Citizen.
