Expanding Ontario’s Rail Networks
April 23, 2026
As part of our government’s plan to connect Ontario, we are continuing to invest in better transit and stronger transportation networks for communities across the province.
Starting July 6, GO train service will be extended to Stratford, providing daily round-trip service between Stratford and Toronto. This expansion will help relieve gridlock, improve access to jobs and education, and support local tourism and economic growth.

At the same time, tunnelling is now officially underway on the Ontario Line, a major milestone for one of the province’s most important transit projects. The 15-stop Ontario Line will make it easier for hundreds of thousands of people to travel across the GTA each day while reducing congestion and improving commute times.
Our government remains committed to connecting people, supporting economic growth, and building the infrastructure Ontario needs for the future.
