Ground has Broken at Mississauga’s Newest Hospital Expansion

That’s why our government is proud to support the historic expansion of Trillium Health Partners’ Peter Gilgan Hospital in Mississauga — a transformative project that will help meet the health care needs of patients and families for generations to come.

With more than $14 billion in provincial investment, construction has officially begun on what will become the largest hospital in Canada. This major redevelopment marks a bold step forward in delivering better, faster, and more accessible care across the region.

Once complete, the new hospital will:

• Triple the current size of the existing Mississauga Hospital
• Add 2,400 new health care workers to support patient care
• Expand surgical and critical care capacity to reduce wait times
• Introduce a new, state-of-the-art 24/7 Emergency Department
