Dear Friends and Neighbours,

As we welcome summer, we look forward to sunny days, longer evenings, and more time outdoors enjoying local parks, trails, and community spaces. This is the final stretch of the school year for elementary and high school students, with exams, yearbook signings, and graduations just ahead. It is a time filled with accomplishment, gratitude, and anticipation for what comes next. Families are also making the most of the season, gathering with loved ones, friends, and neighbours for barbecues and outdoor get-togethers, strengthening connections and sharing time together.

Across Ontario, June is a time to recognize and celebrate the diverse cultures and communities that make our province so special. We begin with Ontario Day on June 1, recognizing our shared identity and pride in the province we call home. We also mark Portugal Day, United Empire Loyalists’ Day, and Somali Heritage Week. In addition, we observe Filipino, Italian, Portuguese Heritage Months, and Indigenous History Month.

June also brings meaningful moments of reflection, celebration, and togetherness across many faiths and traditions. Father’s Day is a special opportunity to recognize and appreciate fathers and father figures who play an important role in our lives. They often provide guidance, support, and encouragement, helping shape who we become. This day is a chance to show gratitude for their care, strength, and presence, and to recognize the many ways they contribute to our families and communities. Throughout the month, we also recognize important observances that reflect the diversity of our province. From June 10 to 12, we observe Shavuot, a significant Jewish holiday commemorating the giving of the Torah. On June 16 and 17, we mark the Islamic New Year (Hijri New Year), a time of reflection and renewal for Muslim communities. On June 18, we recognize Sri Guru Arjun Dev Ji’s Martyrdom Day, an important day in Sikh history honouring sacrifice and faith. On June 25 and 26, we observe Ashura, a day of deep spiritual significance marked by reflection, remembrance, and devotion. Together, these observances highlight the richness of traditions that strengthen and connect our community.

Every day, people across Ontario rely on skilled trades and hands-on training to build strong communities and support a growing economy. Ensuring access to high-quality apprenticeship opportunities is essential to preparing the next generation of workers and meeting the needs of key sectors across the province. To support this, our government is expanding access to apprenticeship training across the Greater Toronto Area. This investment will help reduce barriers for apprentices by increasing training capacity and improving access to modern facilities and equipment. By strengthening these pathways, more individuals will have the opportunity to gain in-demand skills, complete their training, and enter rewarding, good-paying careers.

Preventive health care plays a vital role in detecting illness early, improving outcomes, and supporting healthier communities across Ontario. When individuals have better access to screening and early diagnosis, conditions can often be treated more effectively and lives can be saved. That is why our government is taking action to improve access to life-saving colon cancer screening. Ontario is lowering the eligibility age for screening, helping more people detect potential health concerns earlier. This change will make it easier for individuals to access preventive care and ensure that more Ontarians can benefit from early detection and timely treatment.

Our community is strengthened by the many volunteers, leaders, and everyday heroes who make a difference in the lives of others. If you know someone whose dedication and service deserve recognition, we encourage you to nominate them for our 2026 Remarkable Citizen Awards by Monday, June 8.

Investments In Ontario

$8.8 Billion in combined provincial/federal funding is being invested to support housing-enabling infrastructure.

Funding will prioritize municipalities that reduce development charges for all residential types by 30% to 50% or greater while maintaining reductions.

$60 Million is being invested to upgrade student learning resources across the province.

Funding will be used to equip teachers with a new provincewide digital learning platform to help identify learning gaps earlier, tailor instruction and provide targeted support to improve student outcomes.

$12 Million in combined provincial/federal funding is being invested to protect Ontario farmers and strengthen our province’s agri-food sector.

Through the Agricultural Stewardship Initiative, this funding will help farmers adopt practical improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs and build long-term resilience.

$2 Million is being invested to help stop the spread of invasive species.

This funding will support 112 projects by municipalities, Indigenous communities, conservation authorities and non-profits across the province, creating over 160 new jobs while engaging more than 3,000 volunteers across the province.

Ontario Cracks Down on Ticket Scalpers

Ontario families deserve a fair chance to enjoy concerts, sporting events, and other live entertainment without paying inflated resale prices.

That’s why our government has capped ticket resale prices at the original purchase price and is increasing the maximum penalty for violating the law to $25,000.

These stronger measures will help crack down on ticket scalpers, protect consumers from price gouging, and make it easier for fans to see their favourite bands, artists, and sports teams live.

Our government is committed to protecting consumers and ensuring live events remain accessible and affordable for Ontario families.

Connecting Ontario

Our government is taking another step to fight gridlock and keep people and goods moving across the Greater Toronto Area.

Beginning in Fall 2027, Ontario will assume ownership and maintenance of the Gardiner Expressway and Don Valley Parkway (DVP), ensuring these vital highways remain safe, reliable, well maintained, and toll-free.

This transition will also relieve the City of Toronto of significant infrastructure costs, allowing municipal resources to be redirected toward other local priorities.

By investing in critical transportation infrastructure, our government is helping drivers spend less time in traffic while supporting economic growth and keeping Ontario moving.

Powering Ontario’s Future with Affordable, Reliable Energy

Our government is securing Ontario’s energy future by investing in clean, reliable nuclear power while keeping electricity costs low for families and businesses.

Bruce Power’s refurbished Unit 3 has returned to service more than seven months ahead of schedule and under budget, saving Ontario ratepayers approximately $150 million while providing enough clean, reliable electricity to power hundreds of thousands of homes for decades to come.

Ontario Strengthens Global Partnerships to Grow Our Economy

Ontario is strengthening its position as a global leader by building strategic partnerships that create jobs, attract investment, and showcase our province’s expertise in energy, manufacturing, and critical minerals.

Our government recently signed a new agreement with Pennsylvania to expand cross-border cooperation in areas of strategic importance, supporting workers, businesses, and the strong trading relationship that has benefited both economies for generations.

We also signed a new energy agreement with the United Kingdom to strengthen collaboration on critical minerals and energy security. This partnership will help build more resilient supply chains, increase self-reliance, and secure the resources needed to power the economy of the future.

Building on Ontario’s world-class nuclear expertise, our government has also announced an agreement to export Made-in-Canada components for small modular reactors (SMRs) to Europe while supporting the construction of a new nuclear manufacturing facility in Durham Region. This investment will help meet growing global demand for clean energy technologies while creating good-paying jobs here at home.

Ontario Increasing Speed Limits on Key Highways

Our government increased speed limits on select highway sections to help drivers get where they need to go faster while maintaining safety on Ontario’s roads.

Beginning June 26, speed limits were raised to 110 km/h on sections of Highways 401 and 416, improving traffic flow on some of the province’s busiest corridors. Further increases to additional sections of the QEW and Highways 400, 401, 402, 403, 416, and 417 are expected to roll out in the coming phase of the program.
