Ontario Investing $16.5 Million to Support Black Youth and Young Professionals
August 28, 2025
Our government is proud to continue building a stronger, more inclusive Ontario by investing $16.5 million through the Black Youth Action Plan (BYAP). This funding will support over 65 Black-focused community programs across the province, providing young people and families with opportunities to thrive.
Since its launch in 2018, the Black Youth Action Plan has empowered more than 90,000 Black children, youth, and families through culturally focused programs that foster education, employment, mentorship, leadership development, wellness, and community engagement.
The new investment strengthens the Economic Empowerment stream of BYAP, which has directed more than $152 million since 2020 to help Black youth and young professionals access pathways to meaningful careers in high-demand sectors.
Programs funded this year include:
- Youth Taking Flight, which introduces youth to aerospace and aviation through hands-on STEM learning and mentorship.
- Youth Association for Academics, Athletics and Character Education (YAAACE), which supports young people in the Jane and Finch community through academics, athletics, employment training, and violence prevention initiatives.
- OYA Black Arts Coalition, which provides skills training, industry experience, and professional development for emerging Black artists in film, television, and digital media.
