Ontario Taking Action to Support Seniors and their Caregivers

May 8, 2025

Ontario is taking significant steps to enhance support for seniors and their caregivers, ensuring they receive the care and assistance they deserve. The province has introduced a series of initiatives aimed at bolstering the workforce in long-term care homes and home and community care settings.

Key Initiatives:

  • Financial Incentives for Personal Support Workers (PSWs): Ontario is offering incentives of up to $35,400 to PSW students and eligible PSWs to encourage careers in long-term care homes and in the home and community care sector.
  • Workforce Expansion: These incentives are part of a broader strategy to attract and retain skilled workers in the healthcare sector, addressing staffing shortages and improving the quality of care for seniors.

These measures reflect Ontario’s commitment to supporting seniors and their caregivers, ensuring that our aging population receives the necessary care and services.

As the MPP for Mississauga—Malton, I am dedicated to advocating for policies that enhance the well-being of our seniors and provide support to their caregivers. These initiatives are vital steps toward a more compassionate and effective healthcare system for our community.
